Graphic Designer / Photographer / Storyteller.
A reformed graphic designer now documenting life with a camera. Human-focused, long-term, reality-based photography projects…
Currently residing in Dunedin, New Zealand. I’m always packing a camera, most often loaded with 35mm black and white film. Oh, did I mention drinking coffee? Lots of coffee.
Michael trained and worked as both a graphic designer and a signwriter but now is better known as a local Dunedin photographer.
With many years of experience in the graphic design industry. He has worked for numerous signage & branding companies in London, Auckland, Wellington & Dunedin. He has a BArtDes from AUT in Auckland & has also completed a PGCert in Visual Arts at The Dunedin School of Art, with a focus on Documentary photography.
He is a father & husband. He can still kinda ride a skateboard and swims every day, something he now regrets not doing decades ago. He dreams of downsizing, traveling the planet with one camera & publishing something memorable.
Inspiration comes from, W. Eugene Smith, Daidō Moriyama, Robert Frank, David Bowie, Robin Morrison, David Byrne, Magnum Photos, Matt Black, Trent Parke, Josef Koudelka Welby Ings, and many more.
